Tirthan Valley journey

How to Reach Us

Tirthan Valley is approximately 480–510 km from Delhi. There are several ways to make this journey — each with its own charm. We recommend calling us to confirm the best route for your timing.

🚗

By Car / Taxi

Most popular · Scenic route

Drive via Chandigarh → Bilaspur → Mandi → Aut → Banjar → Tirthan Valley. The total road distance is about 480–510 km, and the drive takes around 12–14 hours depending on traffic and stops.

⚠️ At Aut, just before the tunnel on the Manali Highway (NH 3), take the right turn toward Banjar/Tirthan — do NOT go through the tunnel.
🚌

By Bus

Budget-friendly · Overnight option

Board a long-distance bus (Himachal Tourism HRTC or private Volvo) from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Delhi to Aut or Mandi.

From Aut or Mandi, take a local bus or hire a taxi onward to Tirthan Valley.

🚌 Overnight Volvo buses are comfortable and arrive in Aut/Mandi by early morning.
🚂

By Train + Road

Comfortable · Best for longer stays

Take a train from Delhi to Chandigarh, Pathankot, or Ambala.

From the railway station, hire a taxi or board a bus bound for Mandi or Aut, then onward to Tirthan Valley.

🚉 Chandigarh is the closest major railhead with frequent trains from Delhi.
✈️

By Air + Road

Fastest · Best for short trips

Fly from Delhi to Bhuntar (Kullu-Manali) Airport — a short ~1.5 hour flight operated by major Indian carriers.

From Bhuntar, hire a taxi for the ~2–3 hour drive to Tirthan Valley via Banjar.

✈️ Bhuntar Airport is the closest airport to Tirthan Valley — just ~50 km away.

Travel Tips

🗓️

Best Time to Visit

March to June (spring/summer) and September to November (post-monsoon) are ideal. Winters bring snowfall and magical landscapes too.

📡

Connectivity

Mobile signals can be limited in parts of the valley. BSNL has the best coverage. Inform your hosts if you need to be reached urgently.

🧥

What to Pack

Carry layers — mornings and evenings are cold. Bring sturdy shoes for treks, sunscreen, and a personal first-aid kit.

🚗

Road Conditions

Mountain roads can be narrow and winding. 4WD/SUVs are advisable for the last stretch. Check road conditions during monsoon season.

Fuel Up Early

Fill up your fuel tank at Aut or Banjar — fuel stations become sparse further into the valley.
